A client requested her wedding photo be turned into a Renoir.

This photo has very nice composition, so I knew it’d make a nice painting. Still, it was a challenge.

Renoir worked in oils with very specific brushstrokes. I wanted the final painting to be as authentic as possible so I started studying.

Then I started my preliminary sketches.

Once satisfied with the background, I started working on the subjects.

And decided to pinstripe her husband’s jacket to match Renoir’s style.

This painting took a month to dry!

If there’s an old world artist + personal photo you love, I’d love to do another.

Thank you,

Christopher
